24 year old collapses and dies playing football in Tarifa

Juan José Navarro Rodríguez had complained of chest pains

A 24 year old man has died while playing football. It happened in Tarifa on Monday night when the victim was playing with some friends. Following his collapse neither the friends nor the health workers, when they arrived at the scene, could do anything to save the youngster’s life.

The tragedy happened just five minutes from the end of the match. An autopsy is being carried out in Algeciras, but the friends told the authorities that the man had asked to play in goal as he had a pain in his chest.

He has been named as Juan José Navarro Rodríguez, from Algeciras where he worked in the port. He leaves a son and wife from Tarifa who is currently two months pregnant.
